Sara Zorzan and Mallory Jones

The Lady Doggers XC surprised everyone at Regionals in Kiefer last Saturday getting a place to participate at the State Competition!

Dewey XC never went to the State competition as a team, so this is an incredible opportunity and achievement.

During Saturday’s meet, Class 3A Regionals ran at 2 p.m. There were 14 teams and around 100 runners, but the Dewey team didn’t get scared and their purpose was to do well and try to place. Sara Zorzan got 12th place, which helped the team earn a place in the State meet.  All the girls ran well, too!

When the team was waiting for the results, the runners were unsure if they made it.  When we found out, everyone was shocked and super proud of the team! Coach Knight was speechless and a very encouraging coach throughout the whole journey.

Two Bulldoggers, Thomas Walters and Teagan Crane, also ran 3 miles at Regionals. They did well but unfortunately they didn’t get a place to State. But don’t worry boys, you can try again next year!!

So good job XC team!  Keep working hard for the last competition of the season: THE BIG STATE RACE!!!
