The Group of Frogs

Madyson Tate

As a group of frogs were traveling through the woods, two of them fell into a deep pit. When the other frogs crowded around the pit and saw how deep it was, they told the two frogs that there was no hope left for them.

However, the two frogs decided to ignore what the others were saying and they proceeded to try and jump out of the pit.

Despite their efforts, the group of frogs at the top of the pit were still saying that they should just give up. That they would never make it out.

Eventually, one of the frogs took heed to what the others were saying and he gave up, falling down to his death. The other frog continued to jump as hard as he could. Again, the crowd of frogs yelled at him to stop the pain and just die.

He jumped even harder and finally made it out. When he got out, the other frogs said, “Did you not hear us?”

The frog explained to them that he was deaf. He thought they were encouraging him the entire time.

 Moral of the story:

People’s words can have a big effect on other’s lives. Think about what you say before it comes out of your mouth. It might just be the difference between life and death.

In the story about the frogs, after falling into a deep pit a crowd of frogs start telling the 2 that fell in, to stop trying and give up. They say everything discouraging to the 2 frogs. One of them finally gives up and falls to his death. However the other frog keeps pushing and trying harder and harder until he eventually makes it out. The crowd is asking him how he kept going and why. He explains that he is deaf and thought they were encouraging him the whole time. Their words caused one of the frogs to give up.

As Emma Lewis stated in her interview, think before you speak. What you say about people really does have an affect on them. Maybe a student doesn’t dress like you. Who cares? You don’t know their story. Maybe they don’t have the money to buy the clothes you have. I bet they have a heart of gold. If they hear you speaking rudely of them because of their clothes, when they are already self conscious because they know their clothes aren’t like yours, this can push people over the edge. It’s no different than bullying. Always think before you speak. You never know how bad words can hurt others
