Paying It Forward

Brandi Wiliams

This year, the high school cheerleaders, along with Caney Valley HS cheer, has been raising money for the Lee family to help with his battle with colon cancer.  Danny’s journey began in June 2018 when he was first diagnosed. After a successful surgery and chemotherapy, he was released and cleared from all cancer in February 2019.  In July, he began having more problems, and in August, it was confirmed that his cancer was back. His form of cancer has a rare mutation that is being treated, but he will have to live with it for the rest of his life.  Danny, an employee of Crossland Construction and former Bartlesville firefighter, has one son who graduated from Dewey last year and another in the 8th grade. He is thankful for his family, his church family, and the amazing support that the Dewey school system and the entire community of Dewey have shown him and his family.

During the Dewey vs. Caney Valley football game, the Bulldogger and Trojan cheer squads will present the Lee family with a check for $1,191.46 to help assist with treatments and care. Further donations from the game will be delivered to the family, as well. This is a prime example of how the Dewey community embodies the idea of one town, one school, one family.  Thank you to all who have supported this family in their time of need.
