The coronavirus has been spreading all over, and now six people have tested positive from Oklahoma. Two of those people are from the Bartlesville area. The Oklahoma State Department of Health has received confirmation through the laboratory testing conducted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and that two persons under investigation in Oklahoma tested negative for the coronavirus. They believe the virus originated from Wuhan, China and has resulted in cases detected in several countries, including six-laboratory confirmed cases in the United States. The risk to the general public is low, and local officials at the OSDH will remain in contact with state and federal partners as they monitor the rapidly evolving situation locally and nationwide.

Coronavirus is a large family of viruses, some can cause respiratory illness to people. Transmission is likely occurring via respiratory droplets from coughing and sneezing around close contacts. Common symptoms are similar to flu-like fever,  cough, and shortness of breath. The primary factor of concern is travel history to the affected area. If you are feeling these symptoms you should report to a health care provider as soon as possible. Briley Davis believes that ” people need to take this more seriously and take as many precautions to protect themselves from the ongoing virus.”
